Flowers are the main part of the cannabis plant with the highest amount of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other active compounds. Cannabis flower is often a shade of green but can be found in a variety of colors: purple, orange, blue, and even black, depending on growing conditions and genetics. 
Flower can range in density from hard nugs that need to be broken up in a grinder, to light, airy buds that can easily be broken up by hand. Different strains will also have a heavy or light amount of trichomes.

Concentrates, also known as extracts, are produced from cannabis trichomes, which contain the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds which give cannabis its recreational and medical effects. There are a variety of methods to create and process concentrates, and they can generally be lumped into two categories: full-spectrum concentrates and isolates.

Some common methods include: water extraction (ice water hash or bubble hash), heat and pressure extraction (rosin and hand hash), chemical extraction (CO2, butane, pentane, hexane), and dry sieve hash/kief. Chemical extraction in particular produces a wide variety of consistencies, with concentrates coming in forms such as glass, crumble, diamonds, shatter, budder, sugar, and sauce.

Concentrates

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a non-intoxicating compound produced by the cannabis plant that is popularly used for a variety of medical applications including pain, anxiety, and seizures. Although most cannabis varieties contain high levels of the euphoric compound THC, the plant can be bred to produce increased amounts of other compounds like CBD. Although CBD cannabis strains can be smoked in flower form, it is most commonly extracted from the plant and prepared into oils, edibles, and vape products.

Marijuana tinctures are cannabis plant material that has been soaked in a binding liquid and strained. The tincture is ingested orally or sublingually (under the tongue).
